The Hastings cross country teams both finished second in the team scoring at the Metro East Conference Preview Meet held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park in Hastings.
Linnea Ronning won the girls’ 5,000 meter run in 19:41.4, a full half minute in front of the second-place finisher. She was one of three Hastings girls in the top 10 to guide the Raiders to second, behind Two Rivers.
In the boys’ race, Hastings had five runners in the top 17 to finish second behind meet champion Two Rivers.
Two Rivers won the girls meet with 33 points, followed by Hastings 62, Mahtomedi 69, Hill-Murray 78, Tartan 125 and South St. Paul 142. Two Rivers won the boys meet with 20 points, followed by Hastings 53, Simley 100, St. Thomas Academy 109, Mahtomedi 114, hill-Murray 157, South St. Paul 173 and Tartan 203.
Hastings girls results:
Ronning won in a time of 19:41.4. Lucy Burmeister was ninth in 22:53.7, and Sienna McCoy was 10th in 23:04.0. Emily Beaudet took 23rd in 24:45.6, followed by Olivia Schuster in 25th in 25:50.2, Mattea Quigley in 26th in 25:49.2. Zoe Augesen finished in 35:38.2.
For the Hastings boys, Parker Stoltz posted the best time, taking ninth in 17:18.2, followed by Aiden Reuter 12th in 17:42.3, Tristan Herbst 13th in 17:44.7, William Carry 16th in 17:48.1, David Tireman 17th in 18:04.3, James Jensen 43rd in 20:15.1, Benjamin Schwanke 48th in 20:42.1, Finn Cullen 51st in 20:57.8 Micah Trost 59th in 21:36.4, Jack Daggit 101st in 28:10.4 and Stuart Esler 102nd in 27:53.1.
