The final week of play is upon the Hastings Raiders Golf teams. The boys will wrap up conference play this week with a dual meet Monday against St. Thomas Academy and the conference championships on Wednesday at Keller Golf Course. And the girls have their Conference Championships at Highland National in St. Paul on Thursday.
“I’m looking forward for the boys to get comfortable with their current game. We’ve seen some under par starts of late from multiple players, actually four of our top six golfers have been under par in the last two weeks. I’m excited to see where our game goes, as we’ve prepared well for Keller and The Jewel, now it’s just enjoying the moment and finding our best,” Head Coach Matt Klein said before the start of the week.
How did the previous week go for the boys?
On May 10th, the Raiders defeated Park in the first annual “61 cup” at Keller Golf Course. Winning 10 holes to Parks 7. They tied one hole for a final of Hastings 10.5 to Park 7.5.
On May 11th, they traveled to Inver Wood to take on Simley and Sibley. Hastings edged Simley 156 to 157 and Sibley finished with 171. Ryan Swanson scored well for Hastings finishing with a 35, followed closely by Joe Benson and Martin Onnen with 39’s. Luke Savage finished with a 43 and both Charlie Williams and Jake Harris finished with a 44.
On May 13th, Bloomington Jefferson came to Hastings Golf Club to take on the Raiders in an 18-hole dual. The Raiders won that 329-337. Benson led the way with a 77, Swanson shot 83, Onnen 84, Williams and Savage 85 and Harris 86.
The girls had one match last week at Emerald Greens vs Henry Sibley. Hastings won with a season best team score, 175 to 191. Ashlen Endres was a medalist with a score of 43, Lauren Skov, Lauren Hubbart and Megan Brown all shot 44s.

Megan Brown crushed one from the fairway on a beautiful day at Emerald Greens Golf Course. Unfortunately, the shot took a weird bounce to the right and ended up in the water hazard. Brown shot a 44 on the day. Photo by Bruce Karnick
