Rivertown LIVE 2022 is set for this Saturday, September 10th featuring Classic Rock legends Foghat and The Guess Who, with special guests, Arch Allies. Rivertown Live is produced by the Hastings Area Rotary Club, a 100% volunteer, nonprofit community service organization that has been serving the community and beyond since 1982. The event featuring two stages and continuous music with food vendors, two beer tents and more is the main fundraiser for the local club and 100% of the profits from Rivertown LIVE go to charitable causes in Hastings and beyond supported by the Hastings Rotary and Rotary International. Anyone seeking more information about the local Rotary club should go to www.hastingsmnrotary. com. Rivertown Live could not happen without the tremendous support of its sponsors. The EXCLUSIVE Presenting Sponsor for this year’s event is Hastings Automotive (Hastings Ford and Hastings Chrysler). They have been the one of the most consistent corporate sponsors of the Hastings Area Rotary Club. Another longtime and consistent supporter of not only the local Rotary Club but in general, the entire community of Hastings, is the Ruth and George Doffing Charitable Fund. Treasure Island Resort and Casino, along with Premier Bank, round out the major corporate sponsors for this year’s event. “We could not have the event at the location we do without Bob and Bobbi Abdo,” according to Tom Montgomery, event codirector and longtime local Rotarian. The Abdo’s own the land adjacent to the city property that is home to the Hastings Rotary Pavilion along the Mississippi River and donate usage of the area for the mainstage. “The club built the pavilion with the vision to have regular music events along the riverfront and this goal has been successfully achieved,” Montgomery explained. “Rivertown Live has grown to be a much larger event and the pavilion alone is not able to house the caliber of groups that we have.”
Kicking off Rivertown Live 2022 is Arch Allies, playing the hits of Bon Jovi, Queen, Journey, Styx, REO, Boston and Def Leppard. This show is billed as the premier NATIONALTOURING TRIBUTE show in North America with Arch Allies performing from Florida to Washington state and from Mexico to Canada, appearing at events, fairs and festivals, and many casinos around the country. Arch Allies performs a TIMELESS TRIBUTE centered around making classic rock singalongs with dynamic vocals, huge guitars, dashing keyboards and powerful drums. They will play two different sets with one starting at 5 p.m. and a second set beginning at 7:30 p.m.in between Foghat and The Guess Who.
Foghat celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021, and their live performances show why the band is still around and why they will be able to keep on rockin’ as long as they want to play! Their music is timeless, and touring is part of their DNA. Their live show is as intense as ever with the incredible energy and musicianship that one would expect and hope for from a seasoned band with such a long musical history and they are bringing their fans along for the ride.
This iconic band from the past is rocking just as hard as they did decades ago, if not more! They are most remembered for hits like “Slow Ride,” “I Just Want to Make Love to You,” and “Fool for The City,” all of which can still be heard in rotation on classic rock radio across the country.
The Guess Who has rocked crowds in their native Canada and the US for over 50 years. Hits like, “No Time,” “American Woman,” “Laughing,” and “These Eyes” still receive continuous airplay today. These guys also bring a level of energy to the stage just like they did when they were playing sold out stadiums all over the world. If you were not able to see them “back in the day” for whatever reason, including “hey, I know that song… my mom and dad listened to them all the time when I was growing up,” you will not want to miss this show. One of the main reasons nostalgia groups like these are still around is the timelessness and multigenerational appreciation of their music. The music brings you back to a time where things maybe were a little more simple, carefree, and relaxed.
As a volunteer organization, the Hastings Area Rotary Club relies on donated time and talent in addition to sponsorships and ticket sales to make Rivertown Live a viable community event. “Truthfully, without the volunteers, there is no way our club of 30 members could pull off a major event like this,” Volunteer Coordinator Craig Beissel said. “We have several athletes from the Hastings High School, community members, individuals from the surrounding area and medical personnel from area hospitals and clinics giving their time to make this event possible.” Rivertown Live is truly driven by volunteers. The Rotary Club is always looking for new members and meets every Thursday morning at 7:30am at the Hastings Green Mill. Consider joining the Hastings Area Rotary Club and help shape the future for our community. If you have the mindset of “Service Above Self,” you will fit right in. Again, more information about the club is located on the website at www.hastingsrotarymn. com. New members and volunteers are always welcome.
