The First Presbyterian Church of Hastings will celebrate a couple huge milestones on Sunday Nov. 2.
The community is invited to the celebrations of the 170th anniversary of the congregation and the 150th anniversary of the church building, located at 602 Vermillion St.
An anniversary worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a celebration lunch to follow. The lunch is hosted by Homestead Church. RSVP for lunch by Oct. 25 to fpchastingsmn@gmail.com or call 651-437-9656.
Former pastor, Rev. Pat Handlson will preach at the worship service.
The offering will be dedicated to Hastings Family Service’s Project Share Christmas Gift program.
“We are choosing to publicly celebrate this historic milestone in the church’s life and history. When our church closes in early January 2026, there will not be a public gathering,” A release from the church states.
The First Presbyterian Church of Hastings was formed on Jan. 27, 1856 when the Rev. Charles LeDuc (brother of General William LeDuc) and 10 friends organized the congregation with the assistance of the Rev. R. Hall of Prescott. The new congregation built their first church building on the corner of 4th and Vermillion Streets at a cost of a little over $500.
