The new choral ensemble will start in September 2024 and serve Hastings and the surrounding communities.
Perhaps you have sung in a school, college, or church choir and find yourself wanting to sing with a choral group once more. The perfect opportunity awaits you, no matter what your skill level may be. The River Valley Chorale, with support from the Hastings Prescott Arts Council, is launching in Hastings, MN in September 2024 and is seeking interested singers to join the choir!
This new choral ensemble seeks to celebrate the joy and impact of vocal music, while building new relationships and fostering a creative and inclusive musical environment for our community members.
The River Valley Chorale is open to high school students and adults of all ages from Hastings and the surrounding communities. The choir will rehearse on Thursday evenings during the academic year, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Hastings Middle School, with rehearsals starting on Thursday, September 19, 2024. The performance season will consist of a winter concert in December 2024 and a spring concert in May 2025. The ensemble will cover a variety of musical styles, genres, and content throughout the performance season.
People interested in joining the choir should sign up to complete a vocal screening for placement and to assess musical skill level. Singers of all levels and abilities are encouraged to participate. The ability to read music is helpful, but not required. You may find more information about the choir and schedule your vocal screening by going to tinyurl.com/RiverValleyChorale.
The River Valley Chorale is under the artistic direction of Hastings native, Ryan McCoy, and the organizing committee is chaired by Kathy Warren, with members Sarah Lockwood, Carolyn Campfield, Margaret Goderstad, Monica Laust, and HPAC Board Representative, Steven Read.
