Seven people have applied for the Ward 4 vacancy on the Hastings City Council.

Applications were due Monday by 4:30 p.m. Mark Vaughan, who decided against seeking re-election to the council last year, is one of the applicants. Joining him in vying for the position are Adam Amer, Timothy Lawrence, Ian Martin, Dennis Millerbernd, Gary Stevens and Scott Zuzek.

The seat is vacant due to the resignation of Trevor Lund effective July 11.

The council will review applications and interview prospective councilmembers on July 24 and 25, according to Assistant City Administrator Kelly Murtagh. The council will then select an applicant, with an appointment scheduled for the Aug. 7 city council meeting.
