Chase Passauer passed away in 2016, and to honor his life and memory, his friends and family created the Chase Allen-Lloyd Passauer Foundation (CAP Foundation). In 2017 they held the first Chase Passauer Memorial Golf Tournament. The foundation has helped raise $50,000 for a law school scholarship and is in the process of funding a $25,000 undergraduate scholarship for 2022.

2020 and 2021 fell between the two scholarships and with the pandemic, the group was not able to hold a tournament in 2020. Instead, they helped local restaurants provide free lunches to children while schools were closed.

They returned to hosting a tournament in 2021 and in that time, they raised enough money to purchase three automated external defibrillators. The group partnered with the Hastings Fire Department Relief Association to provide training and the devices to three local businesses. The AEDs were placed in the Busted Nut, Dugarel’s, and Starkson Family Celebration Chapel.

The foundation has their next golf tournament scheduled for August 5. The check in for the event is 8 a.m. at Hastings Golf Club with the shotgun start scheduled for 9:30. There are currently no open spaces for golfing, but there are five spots available for dinner only. To learn more, visit www.cap34.org.
