On Thursday, January 16th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Hastings Community Education Advisory Council will host a Youth Resource Fair in the Hastings High School commons area. The event is designed to highlight the diverse programs and opportunities available to youth and families in the Hastings area.
“Our advisory council, made up of community members from a variety of backgrounds, wanted to create a single event where local organizations could connect with the community,” said Jaci Hansey, Youth Services Coordinator for Hastings Community Education.
The Youth Resource Fair will feature a wide range of programs, from sports and education to library services and enrichment opportunities. “There’s truly something for everyone,” said Rob Halberg, Adult Services Coordinator for Hastings Community Education. “We’re fortunate to have so many incredible programs in our town, and it’s exciting to bring so many of them together under one roof for this event.”
Hastings Community Education Director Kari Gorr expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "This fair is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and learn about the many programs that support our youth. It’s an example of how we can work collectively to ensure every child can access valuable resources for personal growth and enjoyment."
The fair is free for all community members to attend, offering a unique opportunity to explore local resources and learn about opportunities for children and teens in the area. In addition to showcasing these programs, the organizations attending the fair will contribute to the Hastings Community Education Advisory Council’s Scholarship Fund. “Each year, the Advisory Council awards a scholarship to a graduating Hastings High School student who demonstrates exceptional service to the community,” Hansey explained.
“We’re hopeful for a strong turnout and are excited about the possibility of making this an annual event,” added Halberg. “It’s always inspiring to see our community come together, and it’s eye-opening to realize just how many programs are available for our kids and teenagers here in Hastings.”
Join us on January 16th to learn more about the many opportunities available for youth and families in our community!
