Emergency repair work will occur on Highway 55 at the rail crossing near Spectro Alloy. The closest cross street to the construction is Doyle Path. The closure will shut down Highway 55 between County Road 42 and Highway 52. The reason for the needed repairs is the road surface around the train tracks is failing.
Temporary repairs were completed during a one-day shutdown on Sept. 7. Permanent repairs will take place between Oct. 3 and 8 with a six-day closure during that period. Dakota County has a temporary signal active at the Highway 55 and County Road 42 intersection to ease traffic flow during the repairs along with the construction of the roundabout at Goodwin Avenue and County Road 46.
With that longer closure coupled with the closure of County Road 46, the only way in or out of Hastings for those six days will be County Road 42, expect heavy traffic those six days with likely delays.
