60 years in business is no small feat, especially for a bar and restaurant, but that is exactly what the Bierstube in Hastings has done. The Bierstube, owned by the Yanz family, was started by Larry Yanz in 1962. Yanz passed away in 1984 right after he opened his second Bierstube in Inver Grove Heights.
Currently there are four Bierstubes in the area located in Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, Oakdale and Red Wing. Red Wing is unique as it is part of the bowling alley. Brothers Jim and Mike Yanz own the four locations.
The Bierstube serves primarily German dishes like Reubens, brats, wiener schnitzel, gebratene leber, sauerbraten, schweine haxen, and Hilde’s German Meatballs. They also have their share of American Fare like steaks, chicken, sandwiches and of course burgers. The garlic cheese toast is a favorite appetizer, as are their cheese curds.
