The Hastings Bierstube is kicking off its 62nd anniversary celebration with a week-long party, packed with exciting prizes, food specials and entertainment. The festivities begin Tuesday and run through Sunday, culminating on December 15th, the exact anniversary of the restaurant and beer hall’s opening in 1962.
Owner Jim Yanz shared details about the week’s events, which include hourly prize drawings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every evening, Tuesday through Sunday. Guests can expect a variety of exciting prizes, including packs of premium steaks, collector’s steins, and Vikings-themed memorabilia, such as beer lights and a Crown Royal Vikings cooler.
One of the highlights of the celebration will be live music on Saturday night. Yanz’s niece, Nina Yanz, will perform from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. She is part of the band Coconut Tiger which has performed at events like the Minnesota State Fair and Breezy Point Resort and is a well-known local talent. In addition to great music, Saturday night will feature the biggest prize giveaways of the week.
"We’ve got some fantastic prizes lined up, and it’s going to be a great night," said Yanz. "People can look forward to cool things like giant three-liter beer mugs and gift certificates, as well as a fun atmosphere all around."
For those craving food, the Bierstube will offer special German food pricing in honor of the anniversary. And to sweeten the deal, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they’ll serve 62-cent beers for 62 minutes. This promotion is one of the many ways the Bierstube is honoring its long-standing legacy in the community.
Sunday, December 15th marks the exact anniversary date, and the Bierstube will host a 1960s-themed karaoke night to celebrate. Guests will enjoy throwback music and more prizes, keeping the party going late into the evening.
In addition to the anniversary festivities, the Bierstube is hosting a Vikings viewing party on Monday night. The bar will feature its popular game-day specials, including 99-cent wings, Jello shots for every touchdown, and a chance to win $500 for correctly guessing the score. Quarterly prizes will also be awarded throughout the game, and one lucky winner will take home an authentic NFL jersey.
