Darold Brockman 1937-2022

Darold G. Brockman, age 85, of Vermillion passed away surrounded by his family on November 19, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Darold was born June 11, 1937 to George & Mathilda Brockman, he grew up in New Trier on the family farm. Darold married Delores (DeeDee) Weiland, the girl across the street, on September 17, 1960 at St. Mary’s Church in New Trier. He was a highly skilled carpenter where he was involved in building many homes and commercial buildings. Darold received an award for being a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union for over 60 years. When not working, Darold enjoyed taking care of his classic cars and entering them in car shows. His favorites were his 1956 Pink Cadillac and his extensive pedal car collection.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Brockman Jr.; foster-sister, Beatrice Blackowiak; brother- in-laws, Ron Balster & Roger Myers; former son-inlaw, Jack Frandrup Survived by his wife of 62 years, DeeDee; children,

Shari (Terry) Hayner, Bayport; Randy (Denise) Brockman, Vermillion; Brian (Ann) Brockman, Vermillion; Pam (Mike) Endres, Vermillion; Lori (Mike) Peine, Miesville, and Kelly (Brent) McGrath, Welch; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Myers & Karen Balster; sister-in-law, Joyce Brockman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Darold will be Friday, November 25 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Vermillion with a visitation two hours prior. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Vermillion.
