Gobble Gait Thanksgiving Day Run/Walk – 11/24/22 8:30 a.m.

Gobble Gait is celebrating 25 years of raising money for Hastings Family Service. The race starts at 8:30 with pre-race festivities starting as soon as people begin to show up on Thanksgiving morning. Downtown Second Street is closed off to traffic for a few hours and thousands of people descend on the area to have a fabulous time helping the community. Register and learn more at www.gobblegait.com Holiday Hoopla – Downtown shops on Second Street 11/26/22 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Downtown Business Association is holding their annual Holiday Hoopla on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to bring folks in for small business Saturday. There will be music in the streets, horse and buggy rides, appearances by various winter characters and deals in all the shops downtown. See the full calendar on page 3.

City Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony 11/26/22 – 5:30 p.m.

The City of Hastings will hold their annual tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 26 at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Mary Fasbender will be joined by a children’s choir from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church who will perform during the ceremony.

Family Music Night – Hastings High School Auditorium 11/29/22 – 7 p.m. – FREE EVENT Event features Hastings native Ben Utecht as a special guest and will also feature Mike Arturi as Executive Director and Founder of Universal Music Center and longtime drummer for the R& R Hall of Fame band 'The Lovin' Spoonful'.

The focus of the event will be “Discovering the life-enriching effects of music lessons and live performance.” Ben and Mike will share the positive impact learning and performing music continues to have on their professional lives. The event will also feature three live performances by UMC students who are all in the age range of 7 -15yrs of age. We hope to illustrate to everyone the important benefits and life skills gained through learning to play a musical instrument and performing live on stage. Universal Music Center is founded on these beliefs and continues to witness firsthand the positive impact music lessons have on students of all ages and skill levels.
