Tuesday was election day, and there was a lot of local races on the ballot. As soon as polls opened at 7 a.m., there was a steady stream of voters. At Resurrection United Methodist Church, there were already about 40 people voting in the first 15 minutes. Lead election judge for Ward 3, Precinct 2 Katy Lindberg said, “I expect it to be a very busy day at the polls, it should be a good day. The weather is perfect, and we are staffed and ready.” The mood of the poll workers was light and there was a feeling of excitement in the room. The election judges were ready to take on their 16–20-hour day. Voters were equally eager to get their votes cast and many were heard chatting in the line enjoying the morning.
