A 59yearold Hastings man died from injuries sustained when boats collided near Kings Cove Marina in Hastings.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) released a statement regarding the accident that occurred on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. DCSO responded to a collision between a cabin cruiser and a small Jon boat. Both the Hastings Police Department and Hastings Fire Department assisted on the call.

Witnesses reported there were two people in the water after the accident, an adult male and an adult female. Both were occupants in the Jon boat. The witness reports indicated that the Jon boat collided with the cabin cruiser that was occupied by two adult males. The collision resulted in the Jon boat occupants being ejected into the water, and that both sustained serious injuries.

Shortly after the collision, the two ejected adults were recovered by the occupants of the cabin crusier, who rendered aid until First responders arrived. Both victims from the Jon boat were transported to Regions Hospital where the male victim, identified as Dallas Larson, died. The female victim was treated for serious but nonlifethreatening injuries. The release concluded with the DCSO extending its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Larson.

The incident is still under investigation.
