For years, downtown residents have had local establishments to go to for their adult beverage needs, but those locations either did not have offsale licenses or their offsale options are very limited, especially for those that would like something within walking distance.

Two months ago, Dao Hoang, owner of the Hastings Social Tavern, opened Alley Cat Liquors. Last week, they celebrated the opening with an official ribbon cutting ceremony held by the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce.

“We opened on July 18, so we're coming up on our twomonth anniversary,” said store manager Andy Guest.

The store is located at 111 Third St. East, just downstairs from Hastings Social Tavern. They offer the standard products a liquor store offers: beer, wine, liquor and tobacco. Eventually, they are hoping to add high end tobacco products in the next few months. They are planning to turn the old bank vault into a humidor room.

Guest hopes the addition of Alley Cat Liquors to the downtown area bolsters an already vibrant shopping area. With the development of The Confluence, the location is ripe for future hotel guests to take advantage of as well.

Alley Cat Liquors is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can find out more information on their Facebook page by searching for Alley Cat Liquor Hastings.
