At 4:08 p.m., the page went out to the Hastings Fire Department, that a house on 207th Street East was on fire. Hastings firefighters were the first to arrive on scene and found the garage fully engulfed in flames. The fire extended to the attic space and eventually to some of the wooded areas in the neighborhood. Crews were able to extinguish the fire. One of the residents of the home did come to the property looking for her dog which was later to be found safe at a neighbor’s home. According to the neighbor, a teenager kicked in the door to save the dog and the neighbor kept the dog safe. The garage and adjacent shed were destroyed, portions of the interior of the home have no flame damage, however, they do have significant smoke and water damage. No one was injured. All firefighters, civilians and pets made it out safe. Crews were on the scene over five hours and cleared the location around 9:30 p.m. There is no known cause at this time. The Hastings Fire Department was assisted by Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Miesville Fire, Goodhue Fire, Rosemount Fire, Inver Grove Heights Fire, Redwing Fire, Prescott Fire, Ellsworth Fire and Allina Ambulance.
