“I started a program for Mother's Day where our guests can buy a balloon at the registers for $4.99. Then I keep a tally everyday of how many we sell,” explained Floral Manager Tammy Jacobs. “I have been delivering them to Regina and I'll be taking some to Augustana soon.”

Any good retail manager comes up with ideas to help their departments grow sales and that was the initial idea that sparked the balloon sale. That blossomed quickly into an event that sold over 160 balloons by Friday morning. This also gave Jacobs the opportunity to donate some flowers to the nursing homes.

“As soon as I started doing it, I started getting really excited about brightening those people's day. I get goosebumps, I really do. I'm very excited about the reception, not only by all by our guests, but the nursing homes as well. Everyone is so excited,” added Jacobs.

This could not have been done without the support of Coborn’s, the community and the nursing homes.

“Both of the people that I've worked with in Regina and Augustana were just so excited to have this participation from the community. And Coburn's is always happy to do stuff like that. I'm hoping to do more of this kind of thing in the future,” Jacobs said.

Coborn’s floral also helped the Hastings Hawks with their Mother’s Day event where they gave away flowers to moms that attended the game.
