Staff report

We don’t want to jinx anything, but Saturday, May 7 is going to be a great day for a bike ride!

The longterm outlook is for temperatures in the 60degree range, so jump on the twowheeler and get pedaling!

The Hastings/Prescott Bike Tour will take place that day, showcasing two unique bike trails that will give riders a unique perspective on the community with incredible views of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers, as well as some prime birdwatch opportunities.

Tours are free but space is limited, so register online at https://www.visithastingsmn.org/biketour/ There are two tours: The 10Mile Loop – It starts with registration at 8:30 a.m. The tour gets underway at 9 a.m. with arrival back at 11 a.m.

Here’s the description from organizers: Explore a 10mile loop around the city of Hastings with stops at the Vermillion Falls, Mississippi River Scenic Overlook and Lake Rebecca Dike. This trail starts and stops in Hastings Historic Downtown. With stops, the tour will take 2 hours. Your experienced tour guide is from the Port Of Hastings Outfitters.

Registration is located on the Hastings Riverwalk, the best place to park is under the HWY 61 Bridge on 2nd Street E. Get there early! Our friends at Carpenter Natural Center will be at registration with local wildlife and lots of great tips for bird watching.

Point Douglas Trail – The Hastings to Prescott ride registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with the tour at 10 a.m. Arrive in Prescott by 10:45 a.m.
