The images and stories of the war in Ukraine on television and through social media continue to capture our attention. The horror of the situation becomes more alarming by the day. With nearly 3 million people internally and externally displaced, it is a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions. As the war drags on, the level of devastation and destruction becomes even greater. All of us are impacted by the events unfolding in Ukraine While most of us do not have direct contact with Ukraine or ways to be in solidarity and support of the people there, we can all pray for relief, hope, and peace. In our Prayer Service we will pray for the victims of the war, refugees and internally displaced people, the national leaders of the world, and our hope of peace in Ukraine and other places experiencing violence and armed conflict throughout the world.

Local faith community leaders who will participate in the service include Rev. Mark Miller, Resurrection United Methodist Church of Hastings; Rev. Beth Wanamaker, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Hastings; Rev. Tanner Howard, All Saints Lutheran Church, ELCA, of Cottage Grove; Fr. Matt Shireman, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church of Hastings; and Rev. Steve Robertson, First Presbyterian Church of Hastings.
