Christ Church’s Pre-Oscar Concert: Music at the Movies Featuring Jennifer Eckes and Adam Baus Friday, March 25, 2022 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Christ Episcopal Church 7305 Afton Rd, Woodbury, MN Just in time for the Academy Awards, Twin Cities vocalist, Jennifer Eckes and pianist, Adam Baus will present a concert of classic Oscar-winning and -nominated songs from popular movies throughout the decades. Movie musicals, dramas, romantic comedies, and animated films are made even more memorable because of the music they feature, so expect a fun mix of tunes from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Burt Bacharach to Disney favorites!

Jennifer Eckes (she/her) has been singing professionally in the Twin Cities area for over two decades, whether on stage in theatrical productions or as a soloist in concerts and cabarets. In the theatre/stage realm, she has sung with com- panies including Ordway Center, Artistry Theater, Plymouth Playhouse, Skylark Opera, the Minnesota Opera, and many others. As a versatile vocalist, she has found many musical revues, concerts and cabaret opportunities throughout the region, at venues such as the Bloomington Center for the Arts, Hastings Arts Center, Hanifl Performing Arts Center, Bryant- Lake Bowl, Honey lounge, Crooners, Brix Music Café, and the Nicollet Island Inn. Her voice has been called “crystalline” and “rock solid”, by reviewers, often praised for her warm stage presence and her “engaging gift for song”. Jennifer holds a vocal performance degree from Luther College and has twice been a fellow of the Cabaret Conference at Yale University. She is a founding member of the Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network and particularly loves telling the story of a well-written song, using humor and honesty to reach the audience on a personal level.

ADAM BAUS is an early music Monterverdi loving teen trapped inside a recovering classical pianist’s body. He is the music director at the Church of St. Rita in Cottage Grove. He enjoys making arrangements for the wide variety of instrumentalists he hires to enhance his 10 different singing groups. Jennifer and Adam met at a funeral. He is a proud stay-athome dad to his two kids. Musically, he has worked with: Macalester Theater, History Theater, Robbinsdale Armstrong HS Choirs, Cretin-Derham Hall, Old Log Theater, Third Avenue Playhouse (Door County, WI), Hennepin Theatre Trust, the Orpheum, Wesley Balk Opera Institute, and the Nautilus Theater’s Composer-Librettist Institute. Before moving to St. Paul in 2015, he was an active pianist in Milwaukee for over 10 years. In his free time he runs marathons, and is the director of the Nation’s Only Race Team Pep Band™ for Mill City Running.

A free-will offering will be taken for the musicians. Christ Church requires everyone in attendance at live events to wear masks.
