Chippewa County Deer Advisory Council to Meet

The Chippewa County Deer Advisory Council will meet on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the Chip – pewa County Court House, Room 001. The meeting is being held to finalize county wide har vest recommendations for the 2022 deer hunting seasons.

At its meeting held on March 22, 2022 the council agreed to forward preliminary recommendations which continue to maintain the county’s deer population.

The general public is in- vited to attend the April 26 meeting and share their input. The council would like to hear comments of concern and recommendations from both deer hunters and non-deer hunters about the county’s deer population.

Being unique, Chippewa County is the only county in the state of Wisconsin that contains a Northern Forest Unit, Central Farmland Unit and Metro Unit for deer hunting.

Statewide Turkey

Season Begins

The 2022 turkey season kicked ou this past weekend with the annual statewide youth hunt. A few brave youngsters ventured out to withstand below average temperatures in anticipation of filling an early turkey tag.

Period 1 of the 2022 season kicks ou Wednesday of this week. A number of experts claim Wisconsin’s turkey population is on a decline from previous years. Last year's harvest indicated a sharp decline from previous years.

Good luck to all hunters participating in the first period hunt this week.

15 year old Jordan Robinson ventured out for this past weekend's youth turkey hunt and successfully bagged a 2 year old gobbler while hunting north of Stanley in the Otter Lake area.
